The Twenty Year Thrash Reunion is a chance to bring together many CNY area musicians and music fans for one night to relive some Syracuse music history. Bands will include The 3rd Party, Blood Run Black, Ses.O.D. and Plan 9. It will be held that the legendary Lost Horizon (on the corner of Eerie Blvd and Thompson Rd) on Saturday May 8th, 2010. The show will start at 8 . $6 admission.
The show will include four bands that will all be playing music reflecting music that is reminiscent of the late eighties to early nineties Syracuse metal scene. The bands will include Lyncourt natives The 3rd Party (which includes Kevin Dean, currently of Brand New Sin). The Third Party formed around 1988. They wrote and performed original songs for packed audiences at the Lost Horizon until they broke up in 1993. The three piece band hasn't reunited until now, so this is a special show for T 3 P fans!
Blood Runs Black is another original band that will be reuniting for the first time for this show. Blood Runs Black first formed under the name Infusion in 1991. There were many member changes of the band, but many members went on to start bands such as godbelow, Brand New Sin, Ledyard, just to name a few. Singer Dan Johnson, who was in the band through it's existence in to the mid 1990's later joined forces with other area musicans to form the heavy hitting bands godbelow, The Last Season, and The Unholy. Other key members were Kris Wiechmann who quit BRB to join the success's of Earth Crisis in 1993, and was also in godbelow and is currently fronting Brand New Sin. He will be on guitar for the show, as well as fellow BNS bass player Chuck Kahl on bass and Billy Martin of Dirty Speaker on drums. This rendition of Blood Runs Black will be performing songs from Infusion and Blood Runs Black's repertior.
Ses.O.D is a tribute band to the mid eighties thrash band S.O.D. (who's music was used for MTV's original Head Banger's Ball show). This band formed last year to perform at the annual Les Fest concert. This band will be doing cover songs from the late eighties thrash scene which could be heard pounding the walls of the Lost Horizon twenty years ago. This band includes singer and tattoo artist Ses on vocals, Kenny Dunham (formerly of BNS) on bass, Grant Waryan( formerly of touring giants Misery), and Brian Mann (of Mannslaughter) on guitar.
Opening the night will be the Misfits tribute band Plan 9. A perfect sing along band to get the crowed warmed up. Money generated from the show will go to CNY's Tool & Die Magazine (which was formed two years ago to promote area bands, musicians, venues and artists) and to the Annual Les Fest Fund.
